Is #MeToo a risk management issue for men? YES, it is, sadly. Is it causing men to be fearful of mentoring women in the work environment? Yes.

It isn’t beneficial for men or women to feel anxiety and avoid each other. Plus, it is not good for equality in business. Businesses are stronger when there is diversity of thought because it mirrors the client base of the business, as well as its vendors, its community and the families of its own workforce.

I think it is SO important to understand what is happening because of #MeToo and the #MeToo backlash. We are all in this together and we need to confront the situation, address false information and the lack of understanding of the core issues TOGETHER.

We cannot promote segregation of men and women at work because of fear of #MeToo. But how do we deal with real worries of our male colleagues of unfair treatment or wrongful accussations?

We must provide training so that men understand what harassment looks like, and how to avoid crossing those lines while still engaging with their women managers, peers and subordinates. This is the ONLY way to move beyond both the horrible behaviors that brought #MeToo to the forefront.
