Starting, growing, and scaling a small business is no easy feat. It takes hard work, effort, and maybe just a tad bit of luck can help. But it still stands, it’s extremely challenging to run a business.
As a woman business owner, you’re sure to have your own share of challenges. In this interview, Jim Fitzpatrick, host of the Atlanta Small Business Journal television program, and I talk a bit about what it’s like to be a woman business owner and how we are perceived in that role. I also shared my own experience and some challenges I’ve faced during my journey as a CEO. Some of the challenges feel old and dated such as the old struggle to be taken seriously as a woman. And then there is the one where a woman can feel pretty alone amongst our peers.
I spent a long time in the creative industry and managed—despite some incredibly painful setbacks—to grow my business to be very successful. After selling that business to Bill Gates for millions, I decided to use what I had learned—including how to overcome challenges unique to women business owners—to consult and train others like you.
Working with many successful women business owners, I’ve developed a very clear understanding of how we can and must push the envelope. This is absolutely necessary in order to grow our women owned businesses because it truly can be an uphill battle some days.
One thing is for sure, it takes great consistent strategy to overcome the kind of obstacles thrown our way as women business owners. It can be even more challenging to women in the business world as a whole. Please watch the video to learn more and feel free to ‘Like’ and/or ‘Share’ it to your own network. I’d also love to hear your strategies on handling adversity within your business and or workplace.
