“Change is not made without inconvenience.” ~ Richard Hook
Some people try something for a little while and then give up.
“It just doesn’t work for me” is a frequent excuse. You’ve been reading these posts, and you’ve made your lists. You’ve even been using the “I” language have begun to feel more positive about what you “choose” to do and you feel that the results are not coming in fast enough. You don’t feel that great yet, your life has not turned around, and you still have not mastered what you set out to do. Therefore you think that these ideas do not work for you at all.
If you had expectations of immediate results, you started with the right mindset (we often see some change quite quickly) but you have not managed to overcome the skepticism in the back of your head that these concepts will work. No one can convince you that you will succeed. If you are plugged into the belief that nothing works for you, what’s holding you back sits deep within you and you’ll have to work harder to achieve success. It’s you who has to make the choice that it will work for you. And it will work for you.
Changing your old beliefs and old behavior patterns is not going to happen overnight. Having it all is a process that requires honesty, that demands vigilance. You need to continue to monitor yourself and make adjustments. The key is to set yourself achievable short-term goals that lead you to each of your long-term goals. To become a millionaire, you need to first find an idea that you develop and work at until it takes shape. Your idea has to fulfill requirements such as being the right product at the right time in the right market. You might fail a few times until you get it right. Then you set up a business around it; find customers and suppliers. Only when all the elements are in place can you and will you get to reach your goal and become a millionaire.
To get what you want, you need to overcome the limitations of your own preconceptions. You cannot set your own goals in relation to what someone else has or hasn’t done. Wanting to be a little above average takes the same effort in the creation process as it does to achieve your wildest dreams and wishes. To think big takes as much energy as to think small, so you might as well go for the jackpot. To dream of having $10,000 is as much work as dreaming of $100,000 or $1 million. You choose what you believe in and what you want.
Is it hard to think that you are doing great when you know you are not? You bet it is. Do you think it’s easy to envision yourself wealthy and happy when you’re down on your luck? It isn’t, but you need to do it anyway. In business, we say that sometimes you need to step out of the business to work at it. This same concept applies to everyday life. You need to step out of your daily life and work on your dreams.
Determine what it is you actually want. Without having a physical list written on a piece of paper, you can’t get what you want. Just as a kid screams, “I want ice cream!” there still has to be the follow-up question: “Which flavor?” You must be specific about your “flavor.” You should have completed your want-it-all list by now, but just in case you have procrastinated in the hope that you can have it all without doing anything to get it – do it now.
If having it all is so easy, then why aren’t more people doing it? Most people don’t live in abundance. Many people complain that they don’t have what they need or what they want, but continue to do the same ineffective things that don’t work. If you want to change something, you must alter one thing right now to get a different outcome. What is that one thing for you? Is it the way you need to change your negative thinking into power thoughts? Is it that you need to dream bigger or do you just have to stop thinking about it all together and just start doing it? The answer to that lies only within yourself – only you know what that one thing is you need to change immediately.
