When one door of happiness closes, another opens; but often we look so long at the closed door that we do not see the one which has been opened for us. ~ Helen Keller
You have things that you love to do and people around you who make you happy and relaxed. You want to identify the triggers that can help put you in a good mood and relax. I’ve got an exercise for you that will help you find relaxation methods that work.
Think about some of the suggestions listed below that will help you relax more. Take a look at your life and what makes you happy the most.
1. Whom do you speak with who makes you feel good about yourself?
2. Who are your most supportive friends – those around whom you instantaneously relax? Mom, Dad, your sister, your kids, your best friend?
3. What are the places where you find yourself physically comfortable? Beach, mountains, forests or even a particular café or bookstore?
4. What helps you physically relax? Sports, yoga, meditation (tapes, CDs), or perhaps a dance class?
5. What do you like to do that takes your mind off everything? Painting, reading, watching funny movies, going to the museum or for a walk outside?
Now make your personal list of what helps you relax. Use the examples above as a starting point and add your own ideas. Make this your very own list of “how to relax.”
Tell me what the main thing is that you do to relax. It’s different for everyone. I’d love to know how you go about letting your hair down. Your insights will hep all of us. Thanks for sharing!
