“A woman is like a tea bag- you never know how strong she is until she gets in hot water.” ~ Eleanor Roosevelt
Here are several of the attitudes and mindsets we’re going to be looking at over the next few posts, which can help you get on track.
1. Know who you are, where you are in your life and what you want.
2. Use the right language to actively attract your desired future.
3. Utilize the law of attraction.
4. Enlist the help of a vision board or a group of like-minded people.
5. Own your leadership attributes.
Mindset One: Know Who You Are.
Review again the joint list you have made, the one that includes a want-it-all list and all your previous and current ego-RHYTHMs™.
You have made checkmarks on separate events you’ve accomplished and from which you’ve learned. You have something to show for your time. Your list reveals what you want (with plenty of fun stuff ahead of you) and includes events of what life has thrown at you that you mastered. You’ve completed the exercises and learned a great deal about who you are, where you are today, and what you want out of life.
Mindset Two: Use The Right Language.
What we say and the language we use are critical in how we get what we want.
Pay attention to what you say. The words that you use to describe your situation are important to your overall state of well being. Dr. Nancy Irwin, a psychotherapist, suggests a few simple adjustments to your language. Instead of saying “I should,” say instead, “I choose” or “I get to.”
For example, when you wake up in the morning, instead of thinking, “I have to go to work,” think: “I choose to go to work.” In this economic climate, many people are without employment. For them it would be a privilege to work.
Here’s another. Instead of “having to lose weight,” say that you “choose” to lose weight. These statements put you immediately in the driver’s seat. Instead of feeling that you’re out of control or trapped, all of a sudden you’re choosing: you are creating and designing your own life.
We’re going to explore this issue of language in the next post as well. In the meantime, tell me what areas of your life would benefit from your simply shifting your language from “must” to “should” or “choose.” You’d be surprised what a difference it makes. I’d love to hear from you about this. Thanks for your thoughts!
