It’s important that you learn to look at life’s ups and downs in a more detached way.
The conclusion is simple – you might as well begin to relax today! This is why the succession of the letters of KARL™ is important. They represent your four-step quick-fix method (to remind you: Know, Accept, Relax and Live). It helps you identify what you already know about a situation, and what you need to do to accept it.
If there’s nothing you can do about it right now, you’ll need to ease into the situation and relax. If there’s nothing you can do at this very moment, remind yourself that any given situation is not likely to remain static; things will get better. Your guiding thought should be that no matter what it looks like or feels like today, you will get out from underneath it. What is today, good or bad, can change again tomorrow. You’ll catch that next wave and either ride on top, or fall off once again, and paddle back out to get on the next one.
You can, and you should, relax; you realize there’ll be another wave and that being upset doesn’t change a thing, but only makes you feel worse. Visualize a surfer waiting patiently for the next wave. He ‘ certain that the next one will come. You need to be certain that your next wave, your next ride, will come. With practice, and over time, this method helps you develop a greater ability to be present in your own “now,” and to live in the moment more consciously.
To sum up, our lives are an endless lineup of things that, at first, might not seem to go the way we want them to go. It’s important for us to be cognizant of the things that help us consciously relax our bodies and minds. If you don’t find ways to relax, you’ll end up feeling stressed out 24/7, and ultimately endanger your health. Remind yourself to relax mentality; relax your body and keep telling yourself that all tough situations have resolved themselves before, and everything worked out.
The advantage of getting a little older and gaining experience is that we no longer think that the world comes to an end when something happens that we perceive to be negative. This is due to tour knowing that so much has already happened, that we’ve gained so many experiences, that we’ve reached a point where we simply don’t freak out anymore. We begin to embrace life with all of its ups and downs.
Where are you in your life? Have you reached a point where you let things go? Have you learned to relax, or are you still struggling with the concept and the execution? Let me know – I’d love to hear from you as we take this journey together.
