“Let us be grateful to people who make us happy, they are the charming gardeners who make our souls blossom.” ~Marcel Proust
Here’s an example of a woman who knows what she wants – she makes a detailed want-it-all list and, like Santa, she checks it twice. Well, more than twice. She’s that kind of woman.
Brandee Sweesy is the chief executive officer of a marketing, event planning, and PR company in the Florida Keys. She actually updates her want-it-all list every six months.
Brandee believes that in six months’ time what she wants either changes or what she wants is already there: She’s gotten what she’s wanted. She therefore needs to revise her want-it-all list on an ongoing basis. Brandee knows why her friends call her “the manifesting machine”: “The key is knowing precisely what you want, she tells me. “I get caught up sometimes in defining what I want, so it often lacks specifics. Once you get specific, it arrives.” Brandee uses not one but two “vision boards” (these are collages of images, pictures and affirmations of dreams and desires). Brandee also tapes her inspirational notes everywhere.
That doesn’t mean that her thoughts are all out in the open. Brandee keeps her detailed want-it-all list closely guarded. They’re her dreams, not the dreams of other people’s. And sometimes it’s just better to keep things to yourself.
For example, her ideal man isn’t just a middle-class guy — he’s super rich That’s because Brandee seeks an ambitious, intelligent, driven and focused partner. Brandee realizes that for a woman wanting to have a rich man as a partner can have a bit of a negative connotation (as in gold digger), but this is her life and it’s entirely up to Brande what she wants to manifest for herself during that life.
Brandee envisions for herself a dynamic and fulfilled life, and thinking and dreaming big have become her mantras. She acknowledges that everything comes in due time.
Brandee admits that timing and being ready for what comes your way go hand in hand: “I was in no position to have a relationship a couple of years ago,” she says. “You choose what fits you. I was emotionally unavailable, so I picked somebody emotionally unavailable. I wasn’t ready yet. I still had some working and growing and learning about myself to do. And when I’m ready, I know I’ll attract the right person. And that’s how I’ll know. Even last year, I thought I was ready, and I ended up picking someone who was emotionally unavailable, which tells me that obviously I, myself, was still emotionally unavailable. Ultimately, the right person will come when I really am ready.”
We’ll go back to Brandee in our next post, as she shows how she continues to work with her want-it-all list.
In the meantime, what about you? Have you thought about your wants and needs, and when they might come true, or when you might be ready to accept them into your life? Have you ever had a time when you thought that you were ready to embrace something you really wanted – and it happened? Let me know – I’d love to hear how your journey has progressed. Your path is our path – we’re in this together!
