For this week, I’m sharing a recording of an appearance I made (virtually) on Jim Fitzpatrick’s show, The Atlanta Small Business Network. During the show, Jim and I discussed the current situation for small businesses and the five success factors that will help you keep your business going despite the crisis.

One of these factors is to make sure you take care of your cash. Cash is going to be an essential part of getting through this crisis because your business may not be able to function at the level it was before this all started. Hopefully, you will find ways to pivot or adapt, but until then, cash is going to be crucial.

Another one of the success factors that will really help you, is leadership. A leader is someone who takes responsibility. They tell us what is to be expected and don’t make up facts. It’s common for us to want to whitewash the facts in order to make people feel better. But one of the most important small business tips I can give right now is to just be upfront with your employees; tell them what you know and what you don’t know. That will be the best cure for uncertainty right now.

And third, make sure that you have a positive mindset. There have been many disasters before. Each one is unique in the set of challenges it presents, but we have emerged from each one and gone through a recovery. This crisis will be no different. While I can’t say exactly what the world will look like a few years from now, I know that the crisis itself will be temporary. Don’t let fear paralyze you.

Watch the video and learn more about some small business tips for weathering the crisis. I’m positive that you will find yourself inspired and hopefully start taking charge of making sure your business is both disaster proof and primed to grow again as soon as possible. If you find this video helpful, please ‘Like’ and ‘Share’ it to your network.

Leadership, access to money, a positive mindset and more – are some of the key points to look into especially in this time of uncertainty. It is imperative to focus on these tips, stay strong and plan ahead. You need to pay attention to survival first, look for opportunities, and then think about recovery.
