“Life is the sum of all your choices.” ~ Albert Camus
I can’t emphasize enough the importance of having working support methods during the course of your journey.
You should spend some time familiarizing yourself with basic spiritual concepts, and by those I mean a person’s inner path to discover the essence of her being and her place in the world.
Spiritual practices can include meditation, prayer and contemplation, which help develop your inner life, and can lead to a greater connection with the world – the larger world – and in turn, a greater sense of yourself as part of a community. In any event, I encourage you to explore all methods, to find what works.
Marianne Williamson, bestselling author and international lecturer on spiritual, personal, and political issues, calls this the “spiritual muscle.” (Marianne’s many books include Healing the Soul of America: Reclaiming Our Voices as Spiritual Citizens, about spiritual vision and politics in American history, and A Woman’s Worth, about women in the modern world.)
Exercising your “spiritual muscle” will give you results. When you go to the gym, you see results – an improved physique – but only if you exercise your muscles. The same applies to spiritual work: you need to exercise your spiritual muscle so it can work properly.
There’s no avoiding this personal work. You need to make sure that you have enough power tools in your bag so that you can pull out the one you need to tighten the loose screws of your old behavior patterns and set yourself straight.
As you think about wanting it all, I encourage you to begin to dream and muse about all the things that you have always wanted. In coming posts, we’ll explore how you can create your dreams and how you can think big.
Never mind that you have been disappointed, burned, and mistreated before. We have all been disappointed and there’s nothing wrong with being a little skeptical. But, it’s important to remain hopeful. We are about to make sense of everything. Get excited – you are about to learn how to get it all!
Before we move on, tell me about some of your hopes for yourself, some of your dreams. Even one. I’d love to know where you are right now, after having begun the work on uncorking your potential, and learning to relax, accept and live with yourself. Please share with me – your journey is our journey. Thank you!
